Bleachers, The Basics

Basic Industry Terms:

Rise- The vertical measure from the top of each seat to the top of the next seat in the next higher row.

Run- The horizontal measure from the front of a unit seat to the front of the seat in the next higher row.

Single Foot Plank– Term used to describe (one) 2″x10″ mill finish aluminum foot plank per row for foot rest.

Double Foot Plank– Term used to describe (two) 2″x10″ mill finish aluminum foot planks per row for foot rest.

Riser Plank– Term used to describe (to meet certain building codes) a mill finish aluminum plank that is mounted vertically on the frame to close the gap or opening under the seat.

Bleacher are Available as “Standard”, “Preferred”, or “Deluxe”. Below are Descriptions of these Different Seating Models:

Example: 5 Row Aluminum Bleachers – Standard Series

Standard Models

Standard- Refers to the system having single mill finish 2″x10″aluminum foot plank on rows 2- and 3, double mill finish aluminum 2″x10″ foot planks and mill finish aluminum 1″x6″ riser plank on rows 4 and higher, double mill finish aluminum 1″x6″ riser plank on the top row only. Guardrails are also included on 4 row units, but may not be required or included on 4 row low rise systems. Guardrails are required on all systems with 5 rows or more.

Example: 3 Row Aluminum Seating – Preferred Series

Preferred Models

Preferred- Refers to the seating having double mill finish aluminum 2″x10″ foot plank on all rows and mill finish aluminum 1″x6″ riser plank on rows 4 and higher, double mill finish aluminum 1″x6″ riser plank on the top row only. Guardrails are also included on 4 row units, but may not be required or included on 4 row low rise systems. Guardrails are required on all systems with 5 rows or more.

Deluxe Models

Deluxe- Refers to the bleacher having double mill finish aluminum 2″x10″ foot plank on all rows, mill finish aluminum 1″x6″ riser plank on all rows double mill finish aluminum 1″x6″ riser plank on the top row only, and aisle with anodized aluminum handrail. Guardrails are also included on 4 row units, but may not be required or included on 4 row low rise bleachers. Guardrails are required on all systems with 5 rows or more.
